چکیده
The use of a particle-in-cell (PIC) algorithm with an explicit scheme to model low temperature plasmas is challenging due computational time constrains related resolving both the electron Debye length in space and inverse fraction plasma frequency time. One recent publication [Ricketson Cerfon, Plasma Phys. Control. Fusion 59, 024002 (2017)] has demonstrated interest using sparse grid combination technique accelerate PIC model. Simplest conditions were considered. This paper demonstration capability effectiveness embedded (hereafter called “sparse PIC”) self-consistently capacitively coupled radio discharges. For two-dimensional calculations, approach shown accurately reproduce profiles energy distribution functions compared standard parameters obtained by these two numerical methods differ less than 5%, while speed up executable between 2 5 depending on setup.

متن کاملCapacitively-coupled radio-frequency hydrogen discharges: the role of kinetics
This paper presents a systematic characterization of capacitively-coupled radio-frequency hydrogen discharges, produced within a parallel plate cylindrical setup at different rf applied voltages (Vrf = 50− 600 V), frequencies (f = 13.56− 40.56 MHz), and pressures (p = 0.2− 1 torr). A twodimensional, time-dependent fluid model for charged particle transport is self-consistently solved coupled to...
متن کاملStriations in electronegative capacitively coupled radio-frequency plasmas: analysis of the pattern formation and the effect of the driving frequency
Self-organized striated structures of the plasma emission have recently been observed in capacitive radio-frequency CF4 plasmas by phase resolved optical emission spectroscopy (PROES) and their formation was analyzed and understood by particle in cell/Monte Carlo collision (PIC/MCC) simulations (Liu et al 2016 Phys. Rev. Lett. 116 255002). The striations were found to result from the periodic g...
متن کاملCapacitively Coupled Hydrogen Discharges: Modeling vs. Experiment
This paper presents a systematic characterization of hydrogen capacitively coupled very high frequency discharges, produced within a parallel plate cylindrical setup, by comparing numerical simulations to experimental measurements for various plasma parameters. A good quantitative agreement is found between calculation and experiment for the coupled electrical power and the plasma potential, at...
